Eleven weeks after the announcement of the first confirmed case of Covid-19 in Nigeria, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), announced 148 new cases yesterday. This brings the total number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria to 2950.
The Nation’s public health agency also announced through it official tweeter handle that the total number of successfully treated Covid-19 patients increased to 481 while sadly for the Nation, the death toll due to coronavirus increased by 5, bringing the total number of deaths to 98. This brings the total number of active cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria to 2371 cases.
The NCDC also provided a breakdown of new cases of Covid-19 according to States as follow:
Lagos takes the lead with 43 new cases while Kano follows closely with 32 new cases. Zamfara had 14 new cases, FCT had 10, and Kastina and Taraba had 9 and 7 new cases respectively. Borno and Ogun State each had 6 new cases of Coronavirus.
Furthermore, Oyo State was reported to have 4 new cases while Edo, Kaduna and Bauchi each had 3 cases. Adamawa and Gombe had 2 new cases of Covid-19 each and lastly, Plateau, Sokoto and Kebbi had 1 news case each.
The Lockdown imposed on three States by the Federal Government was recently relaxed and experts have predicted a surge in the number of new cases in the coming days. Do you think the relaxation of lockdown will lead to increase in the number of new cases of Coronavirus?
