The National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC in a late night tweet last night announced the highest single-day number of Covid-19 cases. The public health agency announced a total of 204 new cases- the highest since the beginning of the outbreak in Nigeria.
The agency also gave a breakdown of the number of new cases confirmed on the 30th of April according to States. 21 States were reported to have new cases with Kano State recording the highest number of new cases with 80 cases- it highest number of cases in a day since the first reported case in the State.
Furthermore, Lagos recorde 45 new cases, with 12 in Gombe, Bauchi and Sokoto had 9 new cases eacg, 7 in Borno and Edo, as well as 6 cases in Ogun State.
Four new cases each were recorded in Abuja, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa, there were three more infections in Kaduna, two each in Oyo, Delta and Nasarawa, while Ondo and Kebbi states have one case each.
Death toll due to coronavirus increased by by 9 to a total of 58. As of 30th of April, the total number of cases in Nigeria rose from 1,728 to 1,932.
On the bright side, twelve patients have recovered from Covid-19. Mr Gboyega Akosile, the spokesman for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a tweet announced that the recovered persons include nine males and three females and one of them is a foreign national.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 patients that have been discharged across the country to 319.
