by Samuel Akpa

The Governor of Rivers State, Gov Nyesom Wike, ordered the demolition of Prodest hotel in Eleme for alleged violation of lockdown rules.

The hotel is said to be owned by a PDP Youth leader in Rivers State. In his words;

“If we could do this to one of our own, then people should know that we are serious and we will demolish more if they disobey us.”

The Government of Rivers State issued a lockdown order of Port Harcourt and Obio-Akpor Local Government Area which took effect from the 7th of May. The lockdown order came following the increase in the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in the state. The Governor has since been seen on major roads implementing the lockdown order himself.
