Nigeria records a spike in the number of Coronavirus cases after ease of lockdown.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in a late night tweet yesterday announced the highest number of daily confirmed coronavirus cases since the begining of the outbreak of the pandemic in February. This development comes four days after the Federal Government eased the lockdown measure imposed to curb community spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The public health agency which also gave a breakdown of new cases according to States, announced a total of 381 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria. Lagos State also records it highest number of new cases in a day with 183 cases. Also, 55 cases were recorded in Kano, 44 in Jigawa, 19 in both Bauchi and Zamfara, 11 in Kastina, 9 in Borno and 8 in Kwara. Furthermore, the NCDC reported 7 new cases in Kaduna, 6 in Gombe, 5 in Ogun, 4 in Sokoto, 3 each in Oyo and Rivers, 2 in Niger and 1 new case each in Akwa Ibom, Enugu and Plateau.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nigeria to 3526 cases. The report also shows that Nigeria has successfully treated and discharged a total of 601 patients while 107 deaths have been recorded.
