What are some few common signs and general symptoms of cancer?
As an health-minded individual, you’re expected to know some of the most common signs and symptoms of cancer infection. However, note this; seeing any of these symtoms does not mean that you have cancer already, as there are many other factors that trigger these symptoms, too.
Nevertheless, if you see any of these signs and they persist for a long time, ensure you visit a medical expert to find out what’s wrong. You shouldn’t treat these symptoms with brevity.
In this article, I listed seven symptoms you must never overlook, if you’re experiencing them, at the moment. They’re listed as follows;
Unexplained weight loss
Most individuals with cancer infection will definitely lose weight at some point, in time. When you start losing weight for no significant reason, it’s called unexplained weight loss. Losing 10 kilograms or more without doing any physical activity that promotes weight loss, can be the first symtom of cancer.
Feeling excruciating pains can be an early sign with some cancers, especially bone and testicular cancer. A chronic headache that doesn’t go away or show any improvement with treatment, can be a sign of brain tumour. Quite often, pain due to cancer is an indicator that the cancer cells has already spread from the body part where it started.
Change in bladder function
An unending diarrhoea, constipation or a change in the size of your stool can be a little symptom of colon cancer. If you experience any pain when passing urine; or if you see blood in your urine: or there’s an abrupt change in the fuctions of your bladder; it can be a symptom of bladder or prostrate cancer. Beware!
Body sores that don’t heal
A common symptom of skin cancer is frequent bleeding and and body sores that don’t heal. An incessant sore in the mouth could be a symptom of oral cancer. This should never be taken lightly, especially by people who chew tobacco, smoke or often take alcoholic drinks.
Unusual bleeding or discharge
A strange, unusual bleeding can occur in early or advanced cancer infections. If you constantly cough up blood, it may be a symptom of lung cancer. More so, seeing blood in your stool (which often look like very dark), can be a subtle symptom of colon cancer. Notwithstanding, cancer of the cervix can also trigger abnormal vaginal bleeding. Either ways, don’t hesitate to visit a doctor, if these happens to you.
Thickening in the breast or other parts of the body
Many cancer infections can be felt through the skin. These cancers happens more frequently in the testicle, breast, glands, and other soft tissues in the body. A lump can be an early or late symptom of cancer and should be reported to a doctor, without any hesitation.
Nagging or hoarse cough
Most often, a cough that won’t go away can be a subtle syptom of lung cancer. Don’t be caught unaware!
The symptoms and signs I listed above are the most common ones associated with cancer. Although, there are many other signs that I didn’t list here. So, if you observe any major changes in your body, let a DOCTOR know, especially if it persists for a long time, or gets worse.
